I’m usually an absolute Christmas fanatic but this year I’ve
been feeling a little less festive than normal. I think it’s because friends
and family are so central to Christmas but as I’m living abroad in a brand new city
with a shortage of both it’s made the build-up to the festive season a little
lacklustre. That sounds very bah-humbug’gy but it’s made me more determined to
make Scotland feel more like home in the New Year and to stop living so much
with one foot still in Ireland. Do any other ex-pats struggle with shaking off
the homesickness?
Anyway above is a mixture of pics from both last Christmas
and this Christmas so far to get me more in the festive spirit! I’ve got an afternoon
of intensive present-wrapping ahead and lots of quality time with my family so
that should ensure some festive overdosing to make up for lost time!
PS: According to the pic above, taken in Glasgow, hot ginger
wine is a real favourite with us Irish. I’ve never heard of it… though it does
sound like something I might indeed like!

All of those photographs are SO Christmasy. I would give my left pinky to be in Ireland (Or Scotland!) for Christmas. I feel like those lads might do it a little bit better than us Americans.
